The Honourable

318

Corporation existing out here in which such property could be vested.

The control of such property would not necessarily rest with the Church Body, but would be regulated both in the Colony and on the Mainland by the terms of the Trust Deeds under which the property was vested.

For these reasons I consider it to be most desirable, though not essential to the Ordinance, that the power of holding property without the Colony should be conferred on the Cathedral Church Body as being the one permanent and legally constituted Ecclesiastical Corporation in the Diocese.

I have etc.,

(Sgd.) J. C. Victoria.

F. H. May, C.M.G.,
Colonial Secretary.
